                                    Welcome to my art gallery of paintings and photographs which I update on a regular basis. As you
                                    see, I'm addicted to strong colour and strong images! I love the challenge of stepping outside of
                                    the 'safe' approach of layers of muted colours. There is a joke in our family that I suffer from the
                                    'Naughty Brush Syndrome". All is going well, when the brush just HAS to move ITSELF into a puddle
                                    of full strength colour. Watercolour needs to be fresh and not muddy, so no correcting is the rule.

                                   The process of translating painting to computer always loses something with paintings, which it
                                   doesn't seem to do with photographs. Preserving detail in the painting without the texture of the
                                   paper making the picture on screen look muddy is well nigh impossible! The colour rendition is
                                   nearly always too garish and contrasty because an image adjusted for my monitor (which is set up
                                   for accurate photo rendition), will not come out the same on a normally set up monitor.
My paintings have varied enormously and I seem to go through phases (sometimes taking steps backwards) as I try to improve and also as I try to avoid becoming clichéd. More recently a particular 'style' seems to be emerging, although this may change too....
The paintings and photos are in mainly chronological order, therefore they get better in the later galleries! I have resisted the temptation of removing earlier, less competent work, as one can see my personal painting and photography 'journey' and (hopefully) how I have progressed....
I hope that you will enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoy painting and taking them!
